8 Must-Have Baby Sleep Products (0-6 Months)

Must-Have Baby Sleep Products

Plenty of baby sleep products out there. You just need 8 of them to make your baby sleep peacefully. Crib, white noise, essential oils— we covered them all.

From my experience as a full-time mother, I found 8 baby products that you simply can’t ignore if you want your baby to sleep well. Get your hands on them before your baby comes home!

Also, as a single mom, I was reluctant to spend extra on my babies. The first 6 months are super hectic, and you will hardly get proper sleep!

So… I started researching. I read tons of mom blogs, talked with other moms, and finally narrowed down my list to 8 products. These products will not only help your baby to sleep better, but they will also give you more time to work and sleep.

Yeah, there are probably more baby sleeping products. But as a minimalist parent, I opted to keep the list as short as possible with the most essentials.

Here we go!!

Seeking for the perfect baby crib, but you’re unsure where to start? Check out this list I created of the best baby cribs to buy.

1. White Noise Machine— For Distraction-Free Sleep

White noise machines are like magic. Before doing research for my baby, I had no idea that something like this really existed.

These machines generate white noise that mimics the sounds of your womb. So, your baby feels home and relaxes more. It can also distract your baby from other surrounding noises.

Alternatively, you can play white noise from your smartphone or MP3 player. Just make sure that the device remains 7-feet away.

Here’s how white noise might sound like:

2. Wearable Blanket and Swaddle

Swaddling a newborn baby can keep him relaxed and comfortable. It’s one of the most inexpensive ways to make your baby sleep.

You can choose to use wearable blankets. These products are far more safer and don’t require that much supervision. With swaddling, you need to keep an eye on your baby to eliminate any risk of SIDS.

Check out the video below to effectively swaddle your baby.

3. Swing and Rocker— Say Goodbye to Colic

I was hesitant to purchase a swing for my baby. I thought it was an unnecessary expense. But then I saw my neighbor chilling and relaxing, keeping her baby in it. I bought it right then.

With added music and white noise, a baby swing keeps your baby in motion. This helps you to focus on work as your baby remains calm. A rocker is cheaper and will probably work as well.

4. Crib— The Ultimate Baby Sleeping Bed

I don’t remember when I ever came across parents who don’t own a newborn crib. Yes, it’s tempting to keep your baby as close to you as possible. But co-sleeping is not a good idea and has many risks.

A crib gives your baby his own space to sleep and live. It will protect him from falls and other unintended accidents.

5. Pacifier— Small but Super Handy

A pacifier might look small and pretty basic, but it does an excellent job of keeping your baby calm. Whenever a baby becomes upset or stressed, he will put his fingers in his mouth.

Why not a pacifier? It’s cleaner and more effective. Sucking a pacifier will lower the baby’s heart rate and calm him down. I had several pacifiers from the MAM brand, and my baby loved them.

6. Essential Oils

Essentials oils are great for making your baby calm and even stop colic. Chamomile and Lavender are among the best essential oils to soothe a baby.

You can use it as a diffuser inside the baby’s room. But make sure your baby doesn’t have any sensitivity to the oils. Use essentials oils only if your baby is 3 months or older.

7. Blackout Curtains— Let Your Baby Feel Like It’s Always Night

In the early days of your baby, light can be very distracting. So, you need to keep their room as dark as possible to keep them calm and get the feeling of the womb.

A blackout curtain is the best option. You can find them in various shades and colors. Keep using it until your baby develops a sense of night and day.

8. Baby Monitor and tracking gears— Track Your Baby’s Activity

As I said earlier, I wanted to keep this list as short as possible to match my budget. But I had to include a somewhat expensive gadget here to decrease my own stress.

Get a baby monitor, which will help you track your baby’s activity from the other room. There are some tracking gears that you can attach to your baby’s body to track heart rate and oxygen levels.

Final Thoughts…

If you get all these essential stuff, I’m sure your baby will have lesser problems with sleeping. And.. your life will get more relaxed too. Make sure to avoid certain sleep products like crib bumpers, weighted sleep sacks, and car seats as these can pose lots of risks.

Even if you end up spending a thousand bucks on these items, they are well worth buying. I wish you all the best for your mommy’s life!!
